Posted by The Cell on October 23rd, 2009

IKFF

What is the IKFF (International Kettlebell & Fitness Federation)

The IKFF is an organization whose goals are two-fold: to promote Kettlebell training and complete mind/body fitness on a global scale, and to support our members in developing the all-encompassing skills needed to accelerate their own fitness and fitness-oriented businesses. The vision in creating this is to offer passionate fitness enthusiasts a no-nonsense, ever-evolving resource they can trust is on the cutting edge of athletic training and conditioning!

CKT – Certified Kettlebell Teacher Course, with Steve Cotter

It’s no secret that kettlebells have proven themselves to be one of the most effective training tools in existence for developing every attribute on the physical/athletic continuum – strength, endurance, core strength, agility, flexibility and the list goes on. However, there really hasn’t been a comprehensive system that brings together the all the benefits kettlebells have to offer. Until now! – that is where the CKT certification comes in!

What will you learn at a CKT certification?

- The core Kettlebell lifts and all their variations!
- How to properly execute all of the competition lifts involved in Russian Kettlebell Sport – swing, snatch, clean, jerk, clean and jerk.
- How you can still achieve all of your fitness goals despite the challenge of limited time
- How to design a program for any fitness goal you or your clients may have – strength, endurance, work capacity, muscle mass, mobility etc.
- The necessary drills needed to help ensure you and your clients learn all the lifts safely
- The multiple types of energy needed for powerful pressing and squatting
- The importance of training for “time” and how it can take your “work capacity” through the roof!
- How kettlebells train your body to effectively manage any type of force encountered in the real world
- How to create the “blueprint” necessary for achieving mastery in Russian Kettlebell sport
- Why kettlebells make you more resistant to injury
- How kettlebells can be combined with other training methods to develop un-matched athleticism
- Why learning to regulate your tension is a huge must in improving your lifts and athleticism
And much more!

The Cell – CrossFit Gymnastics Certification

Posted by The Cell on January 22nd, 2009

The Cell has the opportunity to host a CrossFit Gymnastics Certification on the weekend of 14/15 March 2009.

Before committing to the long trip to Perth, Jeff Tucker and his CrossFit Gymnastics Cert crew want to be sure there is sufficient interest in Perth to warrant a Cert. We’re after at least 30 attendees.

I attended the Cert in Sydney last year and thoroughly recommend it. I learned a great deal and had a lot of fun in the process. If you’re keen to expand your knowledge of CrossFit and learn how to dramatically increase your fitness or that of your athletes through the use of basic Gymnastics movements, this Cert is not to be missed.

Click here for more info about the Cert and please email me your interest A.S.A.P. at jason@thecellfitness.com.au.

We are after definite numbers, so if you’re non-committal, please don’t count yourself in.

CrossFit Running & Endurance Sports Training Certification

Posted by The Cell on December 23rd, 2008

runningcert0108evat-th1The Cell will be playing host to another CrossFit specialty certification. Carl Borg from CrossFit Endurance will be heading down under on the 24th and 25th October 2009 for the CrossFit Running and Endurance Sports Training Certification.

So what’s your “Helen” time? It could be better in a weekend by improving your running efficiency. Maybe you want to improve your 5k, 1 mile, or 400m times? Or your marathon?

Do you hurt when you run? Do you suffer from shin splints, knee or hip pain? Improving your running efficiency may be the key to running both pain free and faster.

You will run less than 2.5 total miles over the weekend and spend 2 full days with Coach Brian Mackenzie learning the fundamentals of run technique. Learn how to utilise CrossFit and minimize oxidative overload to improve the performances of both your short distance and endurance athletes.

Carl Borg is an expert in strength and conditioning for endurance athletes. He has extensive experience in programming and turning the mediocre athlete into a great athlete. He has had played a pivotal role in developing the CrossFit Endurance program. Carl is a competitive endurance athlete at all levels, and has been racing for the greater part of his life and has incorporated CrossFit Endurance into all of his training. He has completed the Angeles Crest 100 on limited training.
